Within the span of a single minute, a total of $1.7 million has been spent globally for military means, about half of that from the United States. In that same minute, approximately one person has died at the hands of small arms weapon.
There are roughly two things that I will pursue the study of without being forced — WWII (specifically the Holocaust,) and nuclear armaments/power/kawaii. This quote was the opening to my Freshman project back in 2008 when I was 15. I can no longer vouch for these statistics. In fact, I’m sure they’ve easily skyrocketed and I don’t remember if the death rate included ongoing conflicts around the world.
It’s an interesting thing to consider, nonetheless.
